I talked to Rotten a little about this in the pool the other night, and stuck this on 2's board, and I figured I'd toss it on here for discussion too.
Something that really struck a nerve wih me this week was the fact that it took the enormous tragedy of the WTC and Pentagon incidents to unite our country with a little American pride, and I think that's sad.
Display flags are now sold out of stores across the nation. I mean, yeah, it's great that people are hanging flags in their windows and tying them to the antennas of their vehicles now to show their support, but it upsets me that this support wasn't there in the first place and it took the loss of 5,000 and some American lives to bring it out.
In my opinion, Americans should have had their flags (aka their support) out long before we endured a national tragedy. I mean, c'mon, when you have a favorite sports team you don't just cheer for them when they're winning, right? You root for them all season long, whether they're in the headlines or not. I think that's the way we as Americans need to come together... always, not just when a major event occurs.
So if you are one of those Late Patriots, that's fine. You've shown your support now, but keep it permanent... continue to show your support for America after this all dies down. And for those of you who had dedicated your support long before these events, just keep on doin' what you're doin'!

The U.S.A was not the only country to lose people....WORLD TRADE CENTRE....Virtually every nation in the world is represented in the death toll...Try to remember that.
Yes...the attack was on the U.S...Yes you are the target...But as you bay for the blood of the killers of these innocent citizens of the world...Remember America is not alone in it's grief...The world outside your borders is hurting too....Turning your back on that world...Could do more political and sympathetic damage to your country than anything else.
It's doubtful...Even The Colonel thinks your justified (he's as crazy as Bush).

I almost didnt post this...but i have to.If we go to war and try to stop terrorism..will this not help the entire world?..if we can dismantle even one camp of terrorists will this not save someone somewhere down the road?.yes we will lose people..we have before and will do so again..I do not want this..But what else can we do..lie down and let them do this again and again..or go down fighting?...Let me say this to everyone ..i mean everyone..I would rather die fighting for my freedom...than to lie down and say..here's a flower can we have peace..i would die anyways..right?...either way we lose. just my thoughts....
Hank your so right...it took this for everyone to come foreward...it is sad..But sometimes it takes a tragedy for ppl to realize and open their eyes to things..

Blaze, hon thank you for coming forward and saying that! I agree with you 100%! If we can stop even one act of terroism in another country, like the terroism we have witnessed in this country, then I am all for doing whatever it takes. After all, these terroists never once, stopped to think twice about the innocent babies, men and women and others they killed. They didnt care, and was not concerned with what innocetn kids and others that they might be harmimg and murdering. If we go to war, and can later down the road prevent even one more act of terroism, then yes in my opinion it is worth it. What are we supoose to do, lay down and invite terroists to come and bomb us all the time now??? If we do not act, if we do not punish them and bring justice to what has been done, any terroist can think: "well, I can go and bomb any place in that country. I can go and have my way and kill ANYBODY in that country, and I will get away with it, cause the United States isnt going to do shit anyway. I can go and bomb any place, any state, anything and the U.S wont even do a thing about it." If we do not attack back now, if we do not nring this to justice, hell, we might as well be sending them invitations to terroists anywhere to come and bomb us! we MUST show any and all terroists that WE will NOT put up with this. We will NOT stand fot this or any acts similar to this! We MUST take a stand and say, "NO MORE!" If we do not act on this, what are we saying? That the united States will let any terroists get away with tearing down the United states piece by piece? I hope when we find whoever did this, that we punish ALL the ones involved! I hope we give them the slowest most worst pain ever! I hope they must endure the longest, most awful amount of pain imaginable. They deserve everything they get. Like i said, we must let every country know, that WE will NOT ALLOW any act of any kind like this. If not, we are saying, they can come over here and tear us apart piece by piece and get away with it. And I am behind Bush 100%! I believe we must do whatever it takes, whatever possible!

Rebel, I agre with you completly with what you are saying. HOWEVER, I also say if you truly want to show how much you care about this country, truly show you love this country, we can do way more than just wave flags and show patriotism.
What are we doing to make this country better? Look at the crime, the pollution, the poverty, the poor, the broke in this country. Look at all the social and environmental problems this country faces. What are you and everybody else in this country doing to make this country better? What contribution are you making to help end the problems we face here? AND I do point the FINGER at MYSELF when I say all this. I could be doing more too.
Even if it is just making a sandwhich or donating clothes to the homeless. Going and giving a old blanket to a homelss person during the cold winter. Recycle, try to end the pollution. Do not use aerosol spray cans. Loving this country and showing spirit and patriotism goes so much further than anyone wants to work for. I donate all my old clothes to the salvation army. I donate all my kids old clothes to the salvation army.
All I am saying is, if we love this country so much, why is it in the condition it is in now? And what can we all do to make it better? Allot of us are to lazy or dont care. Instead of doing something about it, we just sit here and say, "let somebody else worry about it". Or we assume it is being taken care of, OR will be taken care of by somebody else. WE must all do our parts! It goes way deeper than just waving flags! I love my country, and I thank God every day that I am a FREE American. I thank God every day for my American rights. Rights that so many have died to give me. And I do not take it for granted.I exercise my rights. I speak up for what I believe in. I practice my faith and my beliefs everyday. This is the greatest country in the world. But it could still be better!
Another way that we could make this country better, if you see any young kids doing something we know is wrong, reach out to them. tell them about your own personal experience. Tell them how you know for a fact they will regret later what they are doing, cause you have been down that road. You have been, where they are right now. Take the time to care! take the time to make this country better. Practice patriotism. Do more than just wave a flag. Your proud to be an american??? Practice it, practice patriotism, practice loving thy neighbor. Practice giving it your all. It doesnt take much of your time. I wish I knew how I could do more. I would love to do so much more. I love my country so much, and I know I could help in making it better! But like I said, it goes so much further than just waving flags. REALLY show how much you love this country, make a start in making a differnce to make this country even better.
Just my 2 cents, not that anyone ever listens to me anyway.

first of all I don't appreciate being labeled " a late patriot for not having a flag" second... isn't this a time to be coming together for humanity not criticizing others for not flying the colors of the united states? how many people in all those other countries have their flags flying? As for the US declaring an all out war on terrorism.. what else should we do as a United world? As for that making all other countries targets.. Do you think we all weren't one before, the possibility is always there. As for the united States thinking before we act.. I'd say we are or there would of been retaliation already. Do I want to see war.. no I wish it could be avoided.. but it won't be nor do I think it should be. As for our President "hiding"??? that is just ludicrous.
I don't want to respond out of anger... we should be coming together not fighting one another right now. That is what they are hoping for.. to break us.. to tear us all apart. none of us has the one right answer to all this.. maybe if we work together.. pull together as one.. as the people of this world... we can figure it all out
